UBUNTU (oo-boon-too) African concept that stresses alliances between all people, reasoning that "a person is a person (only) through others." Simply, "I am because we are."

It has taken me most of my life of searching and seeking to finally understand and be able to articulate what it was I was really after. My earliest memories are of me thinking there must be a way other than what I had observed so far. Like most people I tried everything. Drugs, sex, rock'n'roll. Relationships, money, food, more drugs, and career. I moved many times trying to out run my past. It was exhausting.

When I was gang-raped at the age of 13 I never reported it to anyone who could help me. I was paralyzed into silence by the shame and fear or what had happened. I somehow blamed myself for the rape. This might sound crazy but it is typical of children who are abused and assaulted. That night haunted me for decades but I didn't know it because I'd buried my feelings so very deeply away that it wasn't until decades later that I could even tell my own mother or what had happened.

At the age of 29 I sought out my first spiritual mentor of sorts, although she didn't like labels and wouldn't have agreed with that one. Her, along with my friend who referred me to her, introduced me to a wisdom so powerful that it still holds true today. Perfect love is all that exists. 

How does that apply to my life in a practical way? You ask?

Over the years I would study and gain a solid intellectual understanding of this truth. What I didn't gain was a consistent experience of truth. My life continued to be up and down. Then a few years ago after reading a book, "The Disappearance of the Universe," by Gary Renard I finally began to have a more consistent experience of truth by practicing a different kind of forgiveness as taught in that book.  This is what I'd been searching and seeking my entire life. I was able to move from intellectual understanding to actual experience.

I recognized that the essence and truth of what I/we are is indestructible. This changed my perception of the world and that changed my experience of life for the better. 

When we were born into this life we were given a name, told what we needed, what we could do, what we must do, and what we couldn’t do. By the age of 7 we were thoroughly convinced that we were bodies that could be damaged or destroyed and would eventually die, and that we were limited beings. Because we were children we were easily lead astray. The reason our lives are so up and down is because this perception of life is not our true nature. So we live in constant conflict with the truth and what we imagine to be true. This causes great suffering.

Then if we have traumatic events, such as abuse and assault, most of us bury our feelings about those events away, causing us even more conflict and more suffering. Someday if we are persistent and fearless enough we will see the truth and it will set us free. We will realize that the events themselves were not the real problem. It is the judgments and decisions that we make about the events that we live and die by that cause us all the grief. For example, when I was raped I decided that I was broken and no one good would ever love me. Then I forgot I made those decisions and went on with my life not realizing how much those decisions were running my life. I nearly killed myself trying to figure out why my life was so very difficult. I was lost and couldn't see my way out of that Hell for decades of my life. I medicated myself with drugs, alcohol, relationships, shopping, and anything else I could think of in an attempt to avoid dealing with all that pain. I didn't know how to deal with all that pain in a way that would be of benefit to myself and others.

Unless and until we are willing to shine the light of awareness smack-dab in the middle of our most afflictive and uncomfortable feelings we will continue to struggle up and down the roller coaster of life. As we rest in the awareness of perfect love all the stories eventually fade away like  clouds passing in the sky and all those judgments and decisions lose their grip upon us and we see nothing outside of perfect love has any power over us.  Then a new day dawns and we are free to live as we were meant to live, in a permanent place of well-being.  We begin to laugh frequently and we stop believing all the lies we'd bought into. We recognize that which was always and forever present and upon which we can rest our heads and lay down all our troubles on, leaving us unburdened and free to do so much good in the world that it never ends.

In other words the truth is that we are perfect love and nothing less. To imagine that we are separate from our source of perfect love is the cause of all our suffering. It appears that we have many and varied problems in the world. There is only one; that we imagine we are separate from our one and only true source of perfect love. Therefore our one solution in all problems is to connect with our one true source of perfect love. The only real teaching is our direct experience of connecting with source and living our lives from that pure space of unlimited perfect love, wisdom, and compassion. 

Through connecting with source; strengths, talents, abilities that we never knew we had rise to the surface providing us with all the guidance and direction that we need to live optimum human lives. We will stop being defined by what has happened to our bodies or by what we’ve done to our bodies and other bodies. Our story will disappear back into the nothingness from where it came leaving us with amazing insight and a clean slate for us to live a different life of joy and benefit to all. 

Our bodies may pass away, but who we truly are lives on forever. This is the part we must emphasize if we are to tap into our true being and live from love and wisdom instead of from a place of separation, lack and suffering. We have a choice as to how we experience the world; either from a place of separation or from a place of connection with source. So even if the world doesn’t show up how we’d like it to we can still have peace. And when it does show up the way we’d like it to we still maintain our peace by relying on our connection to source so that we are not attached to any particular outcome or dependent on it in any way. We need not give-up anything in the world, only our attachment to it. We can live in the world much more easily by not being dependent upon it or by being afraid of it, by relying on our connection to our source of love.

Through connecting with our source of perfect love for brief periods many times until automatic, love, wisdom, and compassion will soon pervade our lives and we will gain the confidence to know what to do in all situations easily and happily. As we resolve all of our own problems and end all of our own suffering we will soon be able to see on a world level how to solve world problems. We will be filled to overflowing with the desire to only be of benefit to others. Not from a place of lack or sacrifice but from a place of abundance, freedom, and joy. As we connect with source we will begin to experience ourselves as ageless, timeless, beings that need nothing and realize stable well being. From this place we will do what was once thought impossible. There is nothing that cannot be accomplished with connection to our source of love.

Love is the most powerful force of all, it is unlimited and excludes no one. We are all equal to this perfect love and equal in power. This is the true meaning of equality. Each time we connect to source tremendous power is released. In each moment of connection to source is the totality of all power. Love is the only real power. There is no substitute. Money is not power because when the money goes away the power goes too. Titles are not power because with the title goes the power. You don’t have to be Oprah or the president of a country to have power. We are all equal in our power. One person who ever you are where ever you are has just as much power as anyone anywhere. One person can change the world. You can change the world. What is your vision of the world? That is your heart’s song. It may be similar to mine or it may be entirely different. Whatever it is you have the power to make it so. This is what Oprah has been teaching us.

You can examine anything in life that you think you need in order to be happy and it always comes down to how we think we’d feel once we had it. All we are really after is stable well-being and the only way to truly have that is through connection to our source.  When we’ve had enough of the suffering we’ll decide to try another way.  Many of us reach this conclusion by way of hardship and adversity. That is not necessary.

I see our world as a diverse beautiful mosaic that beats to the rhythm of one heart. And we each have a tile of the mosaic that we fit on and everything that we've been through has perfectly qualified us to fulfill the promise of that one particular tile, which quite naturally benefits all. And when we reach the summit where we are able see past the mountains of our false imaginings, and realize the world is already perfect the way is provided through no effort of our own and is wholly given without end.

In Conclusion: 

1. Committ to connect with source for brief periods until automatic and well being is stable.

2. From this place of stable well-being you will always know what to do automatically.  And your heart's vision will reveal itself to you and the way will be provided. You will not have to search for it, it will be blazingly obvious and like a tidal wave of love that nothing can diminish.
